City of Rockland Fire/EMS Department
EMT-Paramedic (42 hr/wk)
Starting pay: $559.72 weekly (base)
Educational incentives: all college courses paid for with 3.0 or higher
Weekly Stipends for job related higher education degrees
42 hour average week: 4 day shifts on, 4 days off, 4 night shifts on, 4 days off
12 paid holidays
12 hrs sick time per month
7 vacation days per year, 10.5 days at 5 years, 14 days at 10 years, 17.5 days at 20 yrs.
Choice of compensatory time off or pay for overtime work (1.5 times hours over 40)
85/15 Family Insurance plan, Dental and Group Life Insurance available
Maine State Retirement: 25 years, no age, 2/3 pay. 8% employee contribution with City match
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma
Clean drivers license
State of Maine EMT-I license (Paramedic preferred)
Preferred:
State of Maine Licensed Paramedic
Firefighter I or II (any NFPA compliant certificate accepted)
Haz-mat certification
Experience in firefighting, EMS or haz-mat response a plus.
The EMT-P responds on all first due EMS calls to provide treatment and/or transport of the injured or ill, operates an ambulance on all emergencies covered by the City of Rockland, provides a rehab and treatment sector at all emergency incidents per the incident commander, acts as the incident commander’s aide when required, provides emergency medical public education as required, has shared responsibility for maintaining the Department billing log and information, prepares reports and information for the billing service, may represent the Department as required at drills, meeting and exercises pertaining to EMS, checks and maintains EMS supplies both in stock and on ambulances, functions as part of the department “team” assisting other on duty members with “household duties” as required, and participates in department training and required training.
Lateral transfers available to employees meeting the requirements for firefighter/EMT positions.
